Founded in 1906, The Ottawa Mission is the city's oldest homeless shelter. At The Mission, they nourish the body, mind and spirit of those who seek their help, and enable people in crisis to heal and build hope for the future. They provide a full range of services and programs to help shelter residents and community members in need. These include emergency food and shelter, housing services, client services like educational and employment support, health services, health services including their palliative care hospice, and addiction and trauma services. Each of these programs is supported by a wider team that includes volunteers, partner agencies, and operational support. Many of the programs rely on fundraising to operate, with 58% of the Mission's funding derived from donations.
